Rastafarian Christmas Day 7th January Ethiopian Christmas Day

Rastafarian’s look at Ethiopia which they deem as the most ancient civilisation and therefore celebrate Ethiopian Christmas celebrated on 7th January. It is called ledet or Genna which comes from the word Gennana meaning “imminent” and which expresses the coming of the land and freeing of mankind from sin.
The young Neville Livingston spent his earliest years in the village of Nine Mile St. Ann parish. It was there that he first met Bob Marley, and the two toddlers befriended each other quickly. Bob Marley and Neville Livingston (AKA Bunny Wailer) both came from single parent households. Livingston was brought up by his father, Marley was brought up by his Mother. Later Bunny’s father Thaddeus “Toddy” Livingston lived with Bob Marley’s mother Cedella Booker and had a daughter with her named pearl Livingston.
Many Orthodox Christians annually celebrate Christmas Day on or near January 7th to remember Jesus Christ’s birth, described in the Christmas bible. This date works to the Julian calendar that pre-dates the Gregorian calendar which is commonly observed.

He was an Ethiopian orthodox Christian throughout his life.
